Why is Reno a great place for a Worldcon? What, are you kidding? Why not??

  • The city is eager to have us. Here's an introductory letter from the mayor himself, Robert A Cashell, Sr.
  • The Visitors Bureau is excited by the prospect and is ready to take an active role in promoting it.
  • The hotels (the Atlantis and the Peppermill) are already working tightly with the bid team to make this an excellent venue for Worldcon.
  • The Convention Center itself is massive, with more than enough space and meeting rooms to create a memorable Worldcon. Because the hotels also have space, it will be easier for programming to place panels and activities so that they complement each other, not interfere with each other.

Food is always first on everyone's mind after they check in, and there is a veritable cornucopia of that easily available, suitable for a wide variety of budgets. Whether you are interested in a quiet place with fine food to continue that delicate discussion about xenobiological mating tendencies, or just looking to top off the tummy with a fast sandwich, it's available in the hotels and up and down Virginia Street.

And if you're one of the many attendees who decide to take full advantage of their visit to Reno, there are plenty of side attractions before or after (or even during if you can find a day with only dull panels).

Reno -- it truly is America's Adventure Place. Why not make it Worldcon's too?
